Be swept away by the power of storiesand music!

Especially created for the Church Stretton Festival, Holding Up the Sky will be a unique opportunity to hear the stories and sounds of South East Asia.

Cassandra Wye: Brings you mischievous and marvellous tales of a faraway world where anything can happen and probably will!

  • A world where True Love can be found with a Fish ….
  • A world where a Dragon longs to be free…
  • A world in where there is found – the one and only Honest Man who will NEVER tell a Lie….
  • A world so precious that the Heroic Humming Bird tries to carry the Sky!

Southbank Gamelan Players: Provide a stunning soundscape that brings the stories to life.
Uniquely, for this performance Cassandra will be joined by members of the Southbank Gamelan Players, who will create the musical backdrop for these real and imagined worlds.
They will play a selection from a repertoire that spans the thousand years of Gamelan music –from the ceremonial sounds of the courts of ancient Kings to the music created by contemporary composers for the Gamelan.
Don’t miss this magical collaboration, it’s suitable for all ages: adults and children are welcome!
